UNICEF cảnh báo số lượng trẻ em Haiti phải di dời tăng vọt

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — The number of children forced from their homes due to violence in Haiti has surged, reaching 680,000 — nearly double the previous figure — according to a new report from UNICEF released on Wednesday. The organization warns that children across the country are increasingly at risk, facing growing threats from hunger, violence, and forced involvement with armed groups.

The report paints a troubling picture of the challenges facing Haiti, where nearly half the population—about 6 million people—now rely on humanitarian aid to survive. Among them, more than 3.3 million are children, caught in the crossfire of deepening insecurity and widespread poverty.

The situation is especially concerning for Haiti’s youngest citizens. With sprawling gang violence displacing families and dismantling communities, children are paying the highest price. UNICEF is calling for urgent international support, warning that the country’s ongoing crisis could have long-term consequences for an entire generation if left unaddressed.
